His
Tombstone and the Field Where his Body Rests |

| John Sevier Wilson and his wife, Dicy
Hatchett Wilson, and family moved from Tennessee and settled in Searcy County around 1855.
He was a farmer, teacher and County Judge from 1856 to 1862. He died in 1865 and was
buried on the family farm near Leslie. The exact location has been unknown to his
descendants for many years. In March, 2000, Mr. Erle Watts contacted James Johnston of
the Searcy Warren & Jean reached out to the WILSON cousins with whom they are in contact. And everyone got together to contribute the needed funds to get the site fixed. It has now been restored with a chain link fence and new marker. The descendants of John Wilson would like to commend Erle Watts, who built a chain link fence, James Johnston for contacting the family and Glenn and Debbie Watts, the owner of the farm, for their part in the restoration of this grave site. Our special thanks to Erle and Glenns father, Gus V. Watts

After: the Old Grave Marker is left standing, as part of our heritage, but a new Marker insures that the life it celebrates won't be forgotten. And Erle's new fence protects the Grave. |
