Lisa Marie Long got the kick in the pants she needed to start writing fiction when she lost her job to budget cuts and found herself at home all day, reading stacks of romance novels from the library.
A life-long reader and self-directed learner, she knew as a child that she wanted to write books, just had no clue where to start.
Finally, after devouring romance after romance, she had finally found her niche. The Western Historical Romance.
She borrowed an old DOS computer (practically a dinosaur!) and before she knew it, had several chapters written of her first novel. Soon after, she joined the Romance Writers of America and began learning all about the business of romance publishing.
Several years, three computers, another job and a baby later, she now has two completed novels, with number three half done. She waits ever more impatiently to hear from the editors who have requested her manuscripts and swears one day her fiction will be on the shelves. (Hey, you gotta have a dream!)
As an Oregon State University Master Gardener™ Lisa writes a monthly column on home horticulture called "That's the Way it Grows" for OSU Extension that is published monthly and read by nearly 1000 households in her local community.
Lisa was born and raised in Northwest Oregon and admits she loves the rainy fall weather. She lives in a small Oregon community where folks still raise cows and horses, along with her husband, son, and several cats (they keep taking up residence). Lisa keeps busy with lots of craft projects, scrapbooking, and homeschooling a busy five year old.
Oh, and Snickers® bars are her hobby as well.
