WE DID NOT HAVE ANY Y2K TROUBLES
There were no power failures or other failures that affected our
supply of water to our customers. ====================== We DID make some emergency preparations. We added a rather large
DIESEL GENERATOR to our system, at the Millard Road office,
capable of powering at least one 40 Horsepower Pump,
providing some 300 gallons per minute during power failure.
This equipment is tested and operating. ====================== We also added a second booster pump at the fairgrounds Pumping station,
to pump water to the Northern homes via the Robinette Tank.
This booster has no generator of its own. It is rated at 2 Horsepower. This second booster can operate in THREE POSSIBLE CONFIGURATIONS: First, it can be switched on, using commercial electricity
to pump water if the 20 Horsepower booster pump has a problem. Second, during an extensive power failure, the 2 Hp. Pump
can operate from any portable generator of 4000 watts or so
which can be brought to the site. It has connectors for
this purpose, and has been tested with such a trailer-mounted generator. Third, it could operate to assist the 20 Hp. pump,
in cases of high water demand in the North section,
to keep up with the unusually high flow requirements of Fire management.

McNulty Water supplies water to 800 homes west of

St. Helens, north of Bennett Road, and as far north

as Robinette and Hanky Roads.

A NEW SOURCE OF WATER

We are in the process of developing a second source of water for the Robinette section, North of the fairgrounds booster.

There is an existing well, North of the Robinette tank, which we are redrilling in anticipation of greater yields of water, and of a quality in keeping with that from our existing wells.

This well will probably be controlled by sensing the levels in the Robinette tank, as is done now to control the fairgrounds booster.

A new water line will be required running southward from the new well to the Robinette tank.

There is the possibility of running a water line westward from this new well, to the existing water line on Pittsburgh & Barger Road. Such a connection would improve the consistency of pressure to homes in that area.

Our water source is from three deep wells drawing from the Warren Bench Aquifer. A recent study by the state indicates ample supply in this aquifer for the foreseeable future.

We are pleased to report that our drinking water is safe and meets federal and state requirements. We can assure you, the users, that the water you use each day is (1) regularly tested, and (2) passes all the tests. Over 80 organic and inorganic constituents are tested for, and all but two are non-detected.

Fluoride found is about 0.2 parts per million (ppm) [a level of 0.5 ppm would be useful for dental protective effects].

Chloride is found at 100 ppm. At that level, the taste of salt is undetectable.

Thus, there has not been a need to "treat" or chlorinate our water.

======================

All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that the water poses a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

====================================

Our goal is to continue to provide to all our customers the great-tasting water we are accustomed to.
