What kind is offered?
MTC provides career assessment and vocational
classroom training. Class offerings include:
Applied Computer
Basics
an introductions to IBM or Microsoft computers
can, hands-on training in basic computer operations and word processing:
Windows 95 and Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint.
Clerical/Business
Techniques
hands-on filing, phone techniques, business
equipment, and other skills to assist you in entering a career in business.
Additional Offerings
May Include:
Food & Beverage Server
Hospitality & Customer Service
GED Preparation
Electronics Manufacturing
(other classes off site as appropriate)
MTC offers an Electronics Manufacturing
class that may be funded by other agents such as AFS, vocational rehabilitation,
ect., or by MTC if you qualify or paid for by the students. The Electronics
Class is an intensive six-week program to prepare you for printed circuit
board manufacturing and assembly in entry-level positions with companies
in the greater Portland area.
What About Other
Job Training?
In many instances, MTC can work with employers
by offering them a partial reimbursement of wages paid to you as a new
employee. Contracts are written which outlines specific training
goals during a limited to training as you learn to be fully productive.
A small allowance for job-required uniforms or clothing can also be made
for participants.
As a participant, your individual service
strategy will be completed. It indicates the types of jobs you are
seeking and the training activities that MTC can provide to help you prepare
for your next job.
