
Lions Club International is the largest services organization in the world,
with more than 1.4 million members in 170 countries. Its motto is, "We
Serve." Its name, Lions, means Leadership, Intelligence, Our Nations
Safety.
Lions Clubs around the globe plan and conduct a variety of humanitarian
service projects involving drug awareness, diabetes awareness, citizenship
services, public services and recreational services. The current mayor service
commitment of Lions Clubs International is the prevention and reversal of
blindness. This program is called "SightFirst."
Plans for Scappoose Lions Club include, but are not limited to, Involvement in
the Annual Sauerkraut Festival, Partnership with Senior Centers, Providing
Hearing Aids and eyeglasses for the less fortunate, Help with the Diabetic
Association, Gales Creek Youth Camp, Boy and Girl Scouts, Flags for 1st
graders, future Mobile Screening Unit, other aids to the community of
Scappoose when need. Our Plans include developing a working relationship with
the local educational system, the city government, senior citizenship
activities, local businesses, and to especially work with other social and
civic organizations for the general good and welfare of this great Community.
This new Scappoose Lions Club will encompass the area south to Corneliuss Pass
Road, north to Warren, and east and west from the River to whatever.
Dinner meetings are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Warren Country Inn on Tuesdays.
These meetings will be information Topics of discovery. Subject matter will be
of who are Lions, what do they do and why. Men and women are welcome to attend
these meeting without prior notice or reservations. The associations is both
non-political and non-sectarian.
We Lions will enjoy one another's camaraderie, have club visitations,
occasional special Banquets, and Play Together!
